And imagine ... now all I have to do is knit and go to PT for the next couple of weeks here!

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
There are lots of tomorrows ahead -- but for right now we are just about done. I'll think about the unpacking in a few months, and of course wonder "why" some of the stuff was sent.

And imagine ... now all I have to do is knit and go to PT for the next couple of weeks here!

A morning's work
what fun, right? It was amazing what we got rid of: cassette tapes, an old computer monitor that would have taken up the whole top of the desk area that I use now, old posters, a 220v turntable, and more. But we saved a pile of bubble wrap to reuse. The garage got a quick once over; it was "minor" as I had been trying to keep on top of it for a while.Lots more "little" piles/closets and drawers to do, but all manageable until the end.

The week went by quickly with guests, and ended with more PT, a haircut and a trip to the local yarn store. I was able to get more Taiga goat's down yarn and bought a ball of Taiga merino to try for socks. The other fun purchase was some 100% Russian linen that I'll use for a woodland shawl.

And who said flying can't be fun?

I don't know, those earrings look pretty lethal to me!

a little like torture
but you feel so good afterwards: more piles for the trash, and yes, beat up suitcases, courtesy of many airline trips.
And I was also able to knit on the 2nd mitten from the Schoolhouse Press May Latvian mitten KAL. They will be doing a sock KAL (two socks on circulars) in September

Weighty matters
Magazines weigh a ton when piled up over the (ahem) years. I've gone through my cooking magazines periodically, but now is the time to cull completely. I spent the entire day yesterday on the couch reading, ripping, and stapling what I saved.
We'll keep all the Cook's Illustrated, but all the Gourmets, Saveurs, and Bon Appetits will end up gone through one last time.
It's definitely like saving goodbye to old friends. We've used a lot of the recipes over the last 7 years for entertaining. And we'll never forget one household staff member who had an innate sense of cooking and could prepare desserts from the covers of Gourmet magazine .... and make them look like the cover, too!
One of the "fun" recipes I found yesterday was for "ranch" style salad dressing, so I promptly made some for our dinner salad. Green Goddess (sans anchovies) comes next. Amazing what fun you have with simple things!
