International Women's Day

I'm spending International Women's Day in the Sierra where I am sure most people aren't aware of it, but outside the United States, IWD is a BIG deal. When we were in the USSR, women received chocolates and flowers. Now, I'm told, in that area of the world, a major prezzie is expected from a spouse or boyfriend, AND chocolate and flowers, too.

But it is also a wonderful day to celebrate female friendship! Enjoy!

It's not well-loved here in Lithuania. Here's the general association (generally associated with Russian men): "Here, my dear, today I will give you a flower; the rest of the year I'll beat you." I didn't see much happenin'. I miss IWD in Italy, actually. Much fun.
